Tennis Legend Vijay Amritraj which needs a conscious self analysis, soul
searching and heart searching for the Indian Tennis Fraternity …..
"You
take to tennis to do well in the singles. No one plays to excel in doubles or
mixed-doubles. You must deliver in the singles, make an impact in the Grand
Slams on a regular basis, be in the top 50, and only then you can take India to
great heights in the Davis Cup."
Looking to the present scenario lot of Spade work has to be
done to get maximum benefit from the High Performance System, if not, then
rebuilt it.
The present structure of the tournament is neither
challenging nor motivating. It may be promoting tennis but not a competitive one
…. Starting from the ground level the State Association has to organize State Tournaments with an annual calendar
of would be tournament in the beginning of the year and
Inter-District Tournament
must be a MUST for all players and due weight-age should be given to its result
for the selection of the State team …. More local tournaments
with competitive formats should be organized at regular intervals so the
atmosphere is charged up and whereby we will get the Topmost Warriors …. We
have enough International Tournaments in India where one can prove one's
mettle
We have adequate infrastructures
but we lack QUALITY
COACHES and in this regard the government or the association has to take
the initiative to provide the QUALITY EDUCATION to the deserving coaches ….. In
this budget Government has increased the amount to the tune of Rupees 117 crores than the last budget for the distribution to federation and association
….
Giving due respect to other vital factors - the 1st step to
produce a World Class Players we should have Quality Coaches + Competitive
Tournament Format = Warrior’s Warrior and Fighter’s fighter ….. All Associations or any Sports Body
should look into How to develop world class coaches …. QUALITY EDUCATION cannot be branded to
one system or the other but has to be ‘exceptional’ WHY? Because champions are
different … champions are exceptional ….
There
are number of coaches who have not renewed or have not gone for next level registration
of the respective organization or the percentage is very NEGLIGIBLE… you know WHY? Most probably it is not WORKING
…. Give time to young coaches to develop the same way we give 10 years to
develop a player …..
Moreover specific need of the coach has to be met to excel
him as the most unique or say different (thinking out of the box) which will
help him to produce world class products or again as per the rut system relying on the 'Chief
Coach' sitting in the office and filling up the progressive reports will
be producing average results .....
