Talent is Hyped .......
“Sir, am I talented? If not, can I make
it? This is the common question asked by the curious players ( I appreciate
their question because curiosity is one of the trait of a champion, and it
shows the ‘teach me’ approach). It is
really very hard for me to answer. I try not to answer as the ‘Yes and No’ has
a strength to change the persons thought process.
At times it is true that the champions
are most talented, however, my experience says that the Champions are mentally
tough, their urge to win teaches them to control their thought pattern,
feelings and above all their attitude. This elite group is neither more smarter,
more educated but they are more focused and are ‘in and out’ motivated and
driven by their passion every day.
As
per my view to be a champion you have to first build your own self i.e.
personal development. Going for personal
development you will find the unique quality you possess. There is a famous exercise to find your
talent and uniqueness. Ask your family members, friends or neighbor about five
best qualities or flair and ability you have with reasons. The list you will receive will surely shock you
as well as it will make you know the hidden talent which you were not aware of. The list will be a great source of enthusiasm
and encouragement for you and your self belief. Your personal development will help
you to push yourself to the extra mile; the extra effort can only come through
self development i.e. self esteem. So, tennis buddies chart out a personal
development action and take my word you’ll be surprised at the outcome. In my
coaching system I give educational and motivational books, articles, Cds to my
students which has helped them in their self development. It is rightly said,”
“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a
fortune.”
The
next secret of a Champion is being full of enthusiasm. Enthusiasm keeps the
champion to work when others are sleeping. They are constantly occupied in
quest of their passion every day with great momentum. This momentum is nothing
else but a mindset that churns up the enthusiasm, energy, clarity and
passion. If you are not able to maintain
your enthusiasm about your play then there is more likeliness that you are
burnout. At this juncture of a champions life the SUPPORT SYSTEM has to be
strong and help him out emotionally physically and internally from this stage.
Well, the above discussed traits are the
intangible assets a champion possesses. Besides this the talented players have
exceptionally good general motor and sports specific talent moreover they are
remarkable in physiological, physical and psychological aspect.
Champions are COACHABLE. The great
coaches they look for the spark in the player so that they can turn the spark into a flame. Having
the right coach is vitally important for developing talented tennis
player. The right fundamentals have to
be taught at the correct age, like movement, balance, coordination skillfulness.
This will built sound basics of technical, tactical and mental and physical
skills around the talented player.
In
nutshell champions’ are talented however they have a warrior mindset, winners
mindset, Saina Nehwal is a prime example of a talent turned into a warrior. She
says “I only play to win”. Champions have stupendous training, both mental and
physical which makes them inevitable and vicious on any given day.

You Massive Tennis Success
